Speaking of debates... (sorry to bring this topic up again) Several of the daily newspapers I buy regularly contain a full-page advertisement for a Vice-Presidential and two Presidential debates... to be broadcast live on SLBC and on AIT (the new Nigerian TV/radio broadcaster in town) and "other electric media" (sic). The ad features photos of all Presidential candidates... and says the event will
be held on the 1st, 2nd and 8th of
November at the Shangri LA (sic) restaurant on the beach road in Lumley.
These debates are apparently being organized by a group called, "Sierra
Leone Election Debate Group" (SLEDG). These ads have raised so many
questions in my mind... Who is this "group"? Who's funding the debate?
Who's moderating this debate? Who's editorially/technically controlling
the content? Where are the questions coming from? Which party/candidate
will appear? Has the BBC, SLAJ, IMC, et al been snubbed for this group?
Will the current President appear? So many questions... Can anyone shed
light on these? Thanks. S/
